What is Prosciutto?

Well basically, prosciutto is an Italian dried and cured meat.
The process is this,
They get a clean, raw leg of ham and cover it in salt. This draws out the moisture making it s
They then hang it in a cool dry room for usually 2 months but originally up to 2 years. This cures the meat so that you don't need to cook it when you buy it (although you can).

preserve (meat, fish, tobacco, or an animal skin) by salting, drying, or smoking.

So I hope you all go out and buy some prosciutto from your local deli right now!
Let me know in the comments what you thought of it (if it's your first time trying).

I do not own these images
